CBCT as a Diagnostic tool In endodontics “Pros, Cons & Rules”

Since 1895, Radiographic images have become an increasingly important adjunct to help diagnose pathoses and plan appropriate treatments. conventional radiography provides only a 2-dimensional image of a 3-dimensional object, and superimposition also can result in reduced diagnostic efficacy. This is an example of the value of CBCT in showing a 3D image since the disease and the treatment is 3D, thus diagnosis should also be in 3D.

Cone-beam computed tomographic (CBCT) imaging was introduced to dentistry in the United States after Food and Drug Administration approval in 2001.

American Association of Endodontics (AAE) & American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (AAOMR) released a Joined statement recommendations for use of CBCT in Endodontics. In our presentation we will explain all aspects and guide lines for the recommendations and how to properly put CBCT to our advantage in different diagnostic perplexities.
