As the field of dentistry continues to evolve, more advanced imaging technologies and tools are
developed to address specific clinical tasks that are not typically addressed by conventional CBCT and 2D
radiography.
This presentation is an overview of three future emerging dental imaging technologies and their potential
impact on DMF radiology and dentistry: Artificial intelligence using convolutional neural networks,
dedicated dental MRI (ddMRI) and second generation CBCT sources.
This lecture will highlight the advantages, potential applications and also limitations of each of these
three technologies, along with sample images. This lecture aims to inform and educate dental
professionals, while also inspiring new ideas and innovations in the field.
