Modeling and AR Guided OMFS

The introduction of radiographic 3D modeling and computer assistance started in the late 90s, but rapidly and creatively dominated the specialty with all the advantages it offers and the potential accompanying its use.  The most popular application was computer guided implant placement that turned into full digital work flow till the end of restorative phase.  The scope invaded almost all the OMFS procedures from taking teeth out to complex cases in reconstructive surgery, traumatic injury, orthognathic surgery and TMJ diagnostic and therapeutic modalities.

The next step in this arena is the Augmented Reality in planning and execution of different procedures that when matures will be a breakthrough not only in our specialty but in teaching, training and performing lots of medical procedures in a magical environment.

Today we will have a walk through different computer guided procedures in a variety of oral and maxillofacial surgical protocols.
