The Assessment of Learning Needs in Clinical Education

Clinical providers, whether in a formal teaching position or not, serve a significant educational role. In modern clinical education, our role as educators is no longer limited to basic dissemination of knowledge and skills. In this session, we will explore the process of assessing learning needs, a requirement to calibrate and tailor the learning process and refine competence. We will discuss contemporary evidence-based teaching practices that provide for a high-quality, rich learning experience. This will not be a session on evidence-based dentistry, but that on evidence-based teaching with a focus on assessing learning needs in clinical education.
